ATTORNEY-CREATED. FAMILY-FOCUSED.
Practical guidance informed by estate planning and probate experience.
The Family Estate Organizer was developed and reviewed by an attorney licensed in Oregon whose practice includes estate planning and probate, with 14 years of legal practice.
That experience informs a practical approach to helping families organize important records, identify missing information, and prepare a clearer handoff for trusted contacts.
The goal is straightforward: help families know what information exists, where to find it, and who to contact when help is needed.
For organization and general education only. The Family Estate Organizer does not create or change legal rights, replace individualized professional advice, or establish an attorney-client relationship. Legal requirements vary by jurisdiction.

MAKE ONE USEFUL START
Your first session can be small.
Read START HERE, choose an edition, and open the main organizer’s Quick Start on page 8. Set aside 30 minutes as a starting exercise—you do not need to finish the whole system.
1. Name one contact.
Identify a trusted person and where their current contact details are kept.
2. Record three locations.
Choose records you already know about. A useful location is more specific than “in my files.”
3. Choose one follow-up.
Mark missing information as unknown, assign a next step, and return when you have an answer.
A useful handoff test: ask whether a trusted person can follow one location description. Share only what you intend them to see. Recording a contact does not give that person legal authority.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this a substitute for a will, trust, or other estate planning documents?
No. The Family Estate Organizer is an information-organization and educational resource. It does not create or change legal rights, replace a will, trust, power of attorney, or other legal document, or provide individualized legal advice. Yes. The guides are designed for individuals, couples, and adults helping a parent or loved one prepare. The conversation resources encourage a respectful approach that protects privacy and lets each person decide what information they’re comfortable sharing.
